Maritime & Aviation

Land research includes maritime and aviation, as land is the common thread that runs through all these aspects. For example:

  1. The Port of Richards Bay was acquired by the government through Zululand Land’s Delimitation from 1902 – 1904. Reserve No. 6 was consolidated into the RSA through the passing of Proclamation R70 of 1976, and later, Proclamation R222 of 1981 effectively dispossessing the African people.
  2. The Port of Durban was acquired by the Colony of Natal in 1858, effectively dispossessing the Luthuli community under iNkosi Mnini.
  3. King Shaka International Airport was built on the property La Mercy 15124. The land is currently under claim by the Abathuyi Community, who are direct descendants of Chief Paul Chili.
